An unprecedented year. A year like no other. A year for the history books. Uncharted. Unseen. Unheard of. Unknown. How many blog posts, emails, news articles, and social media posts have used these words in the last 10 months? Far, far, far too many to count, of course, which seems entirely appropriate for a year that changed the way the world thought about numbers. We fully expected that our year by the numbers would look how lots of us feel . . . less-than-optimal but happy to still be standing. So imagine our surprise and delight when we dug in and found quite the opposite.
While we were all doing our level best to simply keep our heads above water, turns out we also managed to . . .
- have 6 social events, including a pre-pandemic paint party, virtual Family Feud and Pet BINGO, a spring zoom party-in-a-box, a socially-distanced back to school party, and a We Got This December party on our intranet,
- provide training to 601 new telepractioners via our Telepractice Training modules, 13.5 hours of free PD to our own THFers, and hosted our very first webinar to help parents do artic therapy at home,
- supply 150 books and 145 lunch bags to kids in need throughout our region and supported the Children’s Book Bank, Rose Haven Shelter for Women and Children, and Michelle’s Love with our time and resources,
- and most importantly, we saw 2731 kids in hundreds of locations via 5 different platforms through in-person, teletherapy, and hybrid service models!
One lesson we’ll carry with us into 2021? When the going gets rough, just keep swimming. One day you’ll be able to look back and you’ll be amazed at what you were able to do.
