After 15 years in business, we have developed lots of great traditions around here. Many of our traditions are centered around coming together to celebrate or to learn, and as we all know, that “coming together” bit looks a little different these days. Despite the challenges presented by the need for social distancing, carrying on with our usual fall customs this month has brought a much-needed dose of normalcy to us all.
We kicked off the month with our annual orientation for new THFers. We’re so thrilled to welcome them all aboard (and to welcome long-time Hello Clinic SLP, Alice, over to the Schools side of things) and can’t wait to hear about the great things they’ll be doing with kids this year.
A few days later, we held our back-to-school party at a local park. We maintained safe numbers of people at the party by having folks sign-up for slots ahead of time, required masks while in attendance, and all of the food and drinks were individually wrapped. Carla organized a very fun Wheel O’ Prizes and everyone walked away with something lovely for their back-to-school supplies. A good time was had by all, and it was a delightful change of pace to see everyone in real life!
And finally, we wrapped up the month with an excellent online continuing education event titled Best Practices in Tele-Assessment. We don’t have any photos to share because we were all so into the presentation that we forgot to take any! Kira and Laura did a fantastic job presenting the most up-to-date information available on tele-assessment and everyone left feeling a little more confident as we move into the unknowns of the coming school year.
It’s impossible to know when we’ll be able to get together again for a big old-fashioned Hello shindig, but we’re all taking some comfort knowing that our traditions are strong enough to stand up to everything 2020 has thrown at us so far. As our annual theme reminds us, We Got This. Here’s to the year of adventure ahead!
