If you’ve ever been to our clinic on Halloween, you’ve seen that we really get into the spirit. And we love seeing our clinic friends dressed up in costumes. Sometimes whole families will dress up in a theme, such as cowboys, astronauts or characters from a book or movie. Our clinic staff takes the opportunity to flex a little creative muscle and dress in costume on Halloween, and we hope you will join in the fun.
Spooky Craft
Since Halloween is all the way at the end of the month, we’re getting into the spirit by making Spooky Spiders out of beads and pipe cleaners. We work on fine motor skills, following directions, making decisions, and we target speech sounds and work on language goals when we do our craft activities.
Parents’ Night Out
Our next Parents’ Night Out is on Friday, October 25 from 5-8 pm. This is an all-ages group, hosted by Laura and Christina. The theme is Halloween, and it’s an excellent opportunity to work in a group and target speech and occupational therapy goals. Last year, we had some cute Halloween-themed activities such as ghost bowling and a sensory station with water beads and eyeballs. Laura and Christina are surely cooking up some fun! Kids have a blast at these events, and it’s also a nice way for our parents to get a well deserved night out. Kids are welcome to wear Halloween costumes if they like (or pajamas if that makes your life easier).
Trick or Treat on October 31st
For the last few years, we’ve been giving our clients the opportunity to Trick or Treat on Halloween (Thursday, October 31). Between 9 am and 5 pm, our clients, siblings, and parents are invited to visit a few of our business neighbors and trick or treat around our building during the last few minutes of therapy time. We promise to make it fun while still targeting therapy goals. If you are not scheduled for therapy on Halloween, you are still welcome to visit and trick or treat with us. We will have some extra costumes on hand if you forgot yours. If parents want to skip the extra sugar, we get it. It’s entirely up to you if you want your child to participate.
Happy spook-tober, everyone!
