The Give committee announced in early December that Hello would again be sponsoring a family for the holidays through Michelle’s Love. Michelle’s Love provides financial assistance, healthy meals, and home cleanings to single parents undergoing treatment for cancer. This year, we were paired with Jennifer and her teenage daughter, Reyna. Jennifer was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in July. She has one more chemo treatment coming up and it has hit her pretty hard. Her parents and her church offer some support but Andy, the founder of Michelle’s Love, says “it really seems like it’s just the two of them navigating all of this together.”
Jennifer and Reyna celebrate Christmas and THFers came together in a big way to check off the items on their wish list. More than 30 people contributed to the effort, and Hello matched any gift card donations, dollar for dollar. After finishing up some last-minute shopping, we had a big wrapping party at the Clinic.
We were humbled and honored to deliver this mountain of gifts to help make Jennifer and Reyna’s Christmas extra special. Thank you to all of the THFers who participated and to Michelle’s Love for giving us the opportunity to serve.
