Winter officially starts on December 21, and at the end of the month, we’ll all take a much-needed break. For many of us, this school year has been both wonderful and scary with the return to in-person learning. I keep reminding myself that this year has been so much better than last year. But it’s also been fairly exhausting as well. In the “before times” I had a lot of stamina for being social and busy, and have noticed that I get tired much more easily now. If you’re feeling like you don’t have your usual energy to make merry and bright this holiday season, I want you to know as a mom to two teenagers, I see you. I hope you’ll be as gentle with yourself as I’m being. I’m putting my energy toward the holiday traditions that bring real joy and letting the rest go.
Winter Break
The Hello Clinic will be closed from Thursday, December 23 through Sunday, January 2. All of our therapy sessions will be canceled during this time period. We will resume our regular therapy scheduled on Monday, January 3.
Sensory and Feeding Tips for the Holidays
Traveling? Have guests who will be staying with you? Kids with sensory and feeding challenges can easily get overwhelmed with changes to their usual routines. Our Occupational Therapist Christina has put together some tips to help you get the most enjoyment from your holiday festivities.
Need Gift Ideas for Kids?
Our clinicians are big fans of toys, games, and books that support speech, language, and occupational therapy goals! If you’re looking for ideas, we’ve got suggestions.
Many Insurance Plans Reset in January
Right now, your insurance plan may be in that happy place of fully paying claims. In January, many insurance plans will reset deductible amounts and out-of-pocket maximums. If you have questions, check out the primer I wrote last January on how insurance works. If you switched your insurance plan during open enrollment, please let us know as soon as possible (we get that you may not have your new insurance cards yet). We are in network with Blue Cross, Moda, PacificSource and Kaiser (by referral only).
We hope that you find joy and light during the holiday season and winter break! We’re so grateful for you. It’s a joy to watch your kids grow and learn.
