Our video series featuring our clinicians’ favorite toys continues! First, we heard from Kathleen about her marble run, and then Bob told us all about his Pooh spinning honey pot. And now it’s Laura’s turn! Laura is going to tell us about her favorite toy, the book Shh, We Have a Plan by Chris Haughton. Watch the video, then scroll down for all of the details!
Laura’s Favorite Toy
The book “Shh! We Have a Plan” by Chris Haughton. (This author has other great books including A Bit Lost and Oh No George)
Where to Buy It
Kathleen gave it to me last year, and I love it so much I bought the board book version at New Seasons the other day for my one-year-old! Amazon or any bookstore will have it also.
How to Use It for At-Home Therapy
I like to act out what the mischievous boys are doing throughout the story (like tiptoeing, climbing, and paddling) to make it interactive and silly. It’s great for working on . . .
- the /sh/ sound and also the /l/ (plan, look, hello, slowly, climbing, log, ladder, leader, leap, flock, colorful, follow)
- present progressive verbs (planning, following, looking, climbing, hiding)
- making predictions and inferences (“What do you think they are going to do next?” “Why did they do that?”)
Do you have this book? Is it one of your favorite toys? We’d love to hear all about it! And of course, stay tuned . . . we’ll have Lori’s video posted early next week 🙂
