Our Favorite Toys – Frog in a Box

December 8, 2015 BY Kelly C. Bawden, MS, CCC-SLP

We’re spending this month sharing our favorite toys with you, and now it’s time to hear from Kim about her Frog in a Box! Remember to scroll down below the video to get all the info about where to buy it and what to do with it 🙂

Kim’s Favorite Toy

Frog In a Box

Where to Buy It

I stole it, I mean I got it from my sister after her kids outgrew it 😉  It is made by Galt Toys and is also available on Amazon. (As a side, the reviews on Amazon report lots of faulty hinges but I’ve been using mine for 5+ years without a hitch.)

How to Use It for At Home Therapy

I love this toy for early talkers because there is an element of surprise. I can work on several different goals depending on the child.

  • a ready, set, “go” routine or
  • an early request to open with a word or manual sign
  • modeling a variety of 2 word phrases when children start to combine words- “go in” “up high” “get out” “bye frog” “come back.”
  • working on choices from 2 (soft) objects to decide what to put inside.

So fun! Is this one you’ve seen before? Think your kiddo would like it? We’d love to hear all about it! And of course, be sure to check out Kathleen, Bob, Lori, and Laura‘s videos, too.  We’ll have Lori’s video posted later this week!
