Did You Know…? We’ll Provide You With Documentation

February 24, 2014 BY Kelly C. Bawden, MS, CCC-SLP

The American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) provides what it calls “Model Health Care Benefits,” suggesting that all health insurance should provide full coverage of the assessment and treatment of a full-range of speech and language delays and disabilities. It is an unfortunate truth, however, that many plans fall far short of this lofty ideal. In fact, many plans do not cover any services for developmental speech-language issues. Because of this, some families opt to use their Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for speech therapy, while others choose to pay for therapy out-of-pocket and take a tax deduction. No matter how you pay, if you receive speech-language services from us here at Hello Online, we are happy to provide a paid invoice outlining the services you paid for and the licensed service provider who provided them. That documentation can be used to submit to your health insurance, your HSA, or the tax man. Every little bit helps, right?
