Speech-language pathologists (also known as SLPs or speech therapists) are professionals who are highly trained in the assessment and treatment of communication disorders. SLPs work with people of all ages who struggle with making sounds (articulation), producing and understanding language, and issues related to vocal quality, fluency (stuttering), and swallowing and feeding. SLPs who “have their C’s” are holders of the Certificate of Clinical Competence, a credential issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association that assures a level of clinical excellence.

Occupational therapists (or OTs) are professionals who are highly trained in the assessment and treatment of issues related to the performance of everyday activities. OTs work with people of all ages and abilities to help them fully participate and gain independence in all aspects of daily life, including dressing, feeding, and work-related skills. Some OTs also specialize in issues related to the hands or issues related to sensory processing. OTs may earn both Board Certification and/or Speciality Certification from the American Occupational Therapy Association. OTs are certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.

Yes! We bill some insurance plans for in-office appointments, but since insurance plans vary greatly from person to person, you are responsible for knowing (and paying) your copay. We recommend that you contact your insurance company and use our Insurance Query Form to help you get the coverage information you need. We are currently covered by most Moda, Regence BlueCross Blue Shield and PacificSource plans. We are also a Kaiser-approved provider (for speech only), but you must be referred to us by Kaiser before initiating services.

Online speech and occupational therapy are simply therapies conducted via videoconference. Services are not provided face to face in a traditional clinic setting. Instead, clients interact with a licensed therapist through an online connection from the convenience of their own home, office, daycare, preschool, or school setting.

Online therapy is a great option for those who do not have access to speech or occupational therapy due to distance or other special circumstances such as COVID-19. It is also a great option for individuals or families that juggle many priorities and would benefit from attending sessions from the comfort of their own home or office. We know, however, that it isn’t a great fit for everyone. That’s why we offer a free consultation before you commit to starting therapy.

Yes! We encourage you to check with your insurance company to see if they cover online speech or occupational therapy. Additionally, we are happy to provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance company or your pre-tax health savings plan. Luckily, acceptance of telepractice is on the rise and more insurance companies cover this service every day.
The rate of progress is always dependent on the goals being addressed, consistent attendance at set appointments, and follow-through with family or individual practice. Your therapist will be able to provide further insight as to their expectations for growth and change.
