It is with heavy hearts that we share that Bob Buckendorf, the founder of our clinic and giant in the field of speech-language pathology, passed away in the early morning hours of August 28th. He was surrounded by his beloved wife and children, and our hearts and thoughts are with them during this most difficult of times.
We, like so many of you, have spent the last few days reeling from this sudden and sad news. We are enjoying being with you, our extended clinic family, and hearing and sharing memories of our dear friend and colleague as we all process this tremendous loss together. We only wish Bob could be here to read and hear all of the wonderful things being written and said about him!
There will be a celebration of life for Bob on September 10th at 10 am at Cedar Mill Bible Church in Beaverton, OR. We are also collecting cards and notes at the clinic that we will pass on to the family on your behalf. Finally, we are talking about plans to do something in Bob’s memory as a clinic community and will share details in the coming weeks.
Shortly after his passing, Bob’s wife Jolene shared the following on Facebook:
“He was determined to not waste his life. He wanted to make a difference in his overseas work, in the lives and families of his dear speech therapy kids and in the many relationships he developed over the years.”
We feel quite confident that he did not waste his life, and feel honored that we had the privilege of being a part of it.
Rest in peace, Bob. You will be missed.
