BHSM Hello Haiku

May 16, 2018 BY Kelly C. Bawden, MS, CCC-SLP

It’s Better Hearing and Speech Month! As professionals in the speech and hearing sciences, we’re tasked each May with bringing awareness to communication disorders and the work we do to remediate them. It’s a big job, and thankfully there are thousands of us out there spreading the good word about what we do and why we do it.

This year we decided our contribution would be . . . haiku. Ok. Yes. At first blush, haiku doesn’t really scream out “GREAT FOR SHARING IMPORTANT SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION.” But I think we can all agree that there are times that art expresses what pie charts and bar graphs can’t. So, with that in mind, I present to you Hello Haiku, written by our clinicians and inspired by their work with kids. Enjoy!
